GREENOCK cricket ace Richie Berrington looks set to earn another Scotland call-up to face Ireland almost three years after his famous performance against them.

The Celtic rivals will lock horns in a three-match one-day international (ODI) series in Dublin this summer.

The sides have played 12 one-day internationals against each other since gaining ODI status following the 2005 ICC Trophy final in Dublin.

Scotland have won only three times, including a remarkable victory in 2011 when an inspired innings from Berrington saw the home side chase down 320 in Edinburgh to win by five wickets.

Glenparker Berrington hit a quick-fire 50 for just 20 balls with two fours and five sixes, all in 25 minutes.

He finished the match with 56 for 23 as Scotland won convincingly.

The 26-year-old Greenock man looks set to earn another call-up to the squad for the rematch at the new international ground at Malahide, near Dublin, on September 8, 10 and 12.

Berrington and the squad will go into the matches in good spirits after winning the ICC World Cup qualifying trophy in New Zealand last month under the stewardship of ex-Greenock captain Craig Wright.
