STRIKER Alex Samuel says Morton will be looking to take out their attacking frustrations on Falkirk on Saturday.

Despite dominating the entirety of the second half, the Ton struggled to create much in the way of clear-cut chances as they drew a blank in their 1-0 loss at Queen of the South last weekend.

It meant they have scored once in their last three matches, and Samuel revealed turning possession into tangible goalscoring opportunities is something they’ve focused on in training this week.

The 20-year-old Swansea loanee told the Tele: “We could have done a lot better in the first half on Saturday, but we were much improved in the second half.

“But it was still disappointing, of course. We got a lot of the possession and we should score to capitalise on that.

“We didn’t create any clear-cut chances, and the half chances that we did have, we didn’t manage to make the most of.

“It was more of a frustrating game for all of us as a team because I think we definitely deserved something out of that game.

“It was upsetting not to get points and we’ll definitely be hoping take that frustration out on Falkirk on Saturday.

“We’ve got to try and learn from what we could do better against Queen of the South, and have trained really hard on that so far this week and will continue to do that.

“In particular, we’ve been working on forward play, linking up, and we have been doing really well on that actually.

“We’ll be looking to apply what we’ve been doing in training in matches and hopefully that will come off on Saturday.” Samuel created an opening at Palmerston with an excellent spin and turn but snatched at his chance and fired over the top, and he admitted it was a finish that left him upset.

He added: “I put that chance just over the bar – and I was really disappointed with that. That’s what I mean, I’ve worked really hard this week on my shooting.

“I do that every week, put a lot of work into my finishing, and that’s what I’m here for: to score goals.

“I’m feeling match fit now, fresh and sharp, so hopefully I’ll be able to manage to add to the two I scored against Motherwell and help get points on the board for Morton.” Samuel was not signed in time to face Falkirk in the Championship opener back in August, but he has been given an insight into the Bairns by some Swansea Under-21 team-mates.

He explained: “I know Jay Fulton and Botti [Biabi] who came from there and they’ve said they are a good standard.

“I know it’s a 3G pitch and quite a nice ground. Personally on the team I’m not too sure about [individual players], but I know they are a good side, one of the better teams in the league.

“Obviously it’s not an easy place to go but I think with the team we have we can hopefully get something from that if we put everything into to it.”
