MORTON made it back-to-back league victories with a 2-1 win over Dumbarton at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium today.

Jim Duffy’s men came into the match off the back of a midweek League Cup loss to Premiership St Johnstone.

However, they had beaten basement boys Alloa Athletic 1-0 at Cappielow seven days ago to end a run of four successive league losses.

Manager Duffy made three changes to the team that lost to the Saints, bringing in goalkeeper Grant Adam in place of the injured Derek Gaston and Michael Tidser for Michael Miller.

The third and final switch saw Joe McKee handed his first start since the opening day loss to the Sons in the Petrofac Cup ahead of Ross Forbes.

And McKee rewarded the Ton boss with both an excellent midfield display and a stunning goal to open the scoring on 41 minutes.

Meeting goalkeeper Mark Brown’s punched clearance25 yards from goal, the 23-year-old caught the ball sweetly on the half-volley to send a venomous strike searing into the back of the net.

Stevie Aitken’s side equalised through skipper Darren Barr when he scooped the ball over Adam eight minutes into the second half.

But with just five minutes left, tireless frontman Denny Johnstone tapped in following great work from sub Alex Samuel to score his second goal in two games and claim the three points.
