LEGENDARY darts player Eric Bristow is to make a special guest appearance at a fundraiser in Port Glasgow next month.
The ‘Crafty Cockney’ was five times world champion and was ranked number one in the world no fewer than six times by the World Darts Federation.
Inverclyde fans will get the rare chance not only to meet the star but also win a golden ticket to play against him.
Colin Vize, right inset, secretary of Port Glasgow Juniors Community Sports Club, helped to arrange the coup to bolster the club’s funds.
He said: “We usually hold a number of events to raise funds, but we thought of going for something different and holding a darts night.
“We have contacts for agents in different fields of sport.
“It will be a good chance for the public to play against one of the best and to raise money by auctioning six golden tickets and the winners will play Eric.
“He was world champion for years and I remember there used to be all that rivalry between Jocky Wilson and him.
“I think there will still be a bit of banter over the rivalry between the Scots and English.”
The star is also going to reminisce about his times at the top and interesting episodes in his long and colourful career.
Colin added: “I’m sure he will have a few good tales to tell.
“I’m looking forward to it.”
Joining him at the event will be professional darts television MC Paul Booth.
The event will be held on August 27 at St John’s Hall in Port Glasgow and tickets cost £15.
They are available through the Port Glasgow Juniors Community Sports Club Facebook page.
