MORTON midfielder Michael Tidser has signed a new two year deal to stay at the club.

The 27-year-old fans' favourite returned to Greenock at the start of 2015 after a short stint down south with Rotherham.

He first came to Cappielow in 2010 from Celtic and soon established himself as a key player, winning a move to England at the end of an eyecatching 2012-13 campaign after netting 13 goals.

Ton boss Jim Duffy says he is 'absolutely thrilled' that the player has decided to accept the offer of a new deal.

Duffy said: “When he’s at the top of his game he’s among the best midfielders in the league, so it’s great he’s made the decision to stay with us for another two seasons.

“I’m sure he would have had a number of other clubs interested; he’s a very talented player and talented players always attract attention from other clubs.

“But he was very happy to sign on and from that aspect of things, we were delighted that he made that commitment to stay with us.”
