INVERCLYDE youngsters Adam Frizzell and Greg Taylor’s Toulon Tournament dreams were crushed by England after Scotland Under-20s suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Stade Parsemain.
Harvey Barnes hit a double in between an Elliot Embleton strike to ensure it was the Auld Enemy who advanced to this year’s final.
Despite the defeat, Taylor, who was Scotland’s goal hero against Brazil, and Frizzell can still finish the tournament on a high tomorrow when Scot Gemmill’s side face the Czech Republic in the third/fourth place play-off this afternoon.
The deadlock was broken when Leicester City midfielder Barnes picked up a loose ball inside the Scotland half before advance forward and dispatching a low shot beyond Jack Ruddy.
Frizzell then had an effort saved by the goalkeeper as the Scots tried to get back into the match.
England doubled their lead early in the second half through Embleton after pouncing on some loose defending. Barnes then grabbed his second and England’s third almost 10 minutes from time with a low curling shot beyond Ruddy.
