Greenock 1 St Roch's 4

SOMEONE forgot to tell the players at Ravenscaig last night this was meant to be a drab end-of-season affair.

Both sides went at it full tilt and the final scoreline was a travesty as Greenock deserved a point, but were undone by slackness in defence.

Trailing 2-1 at the break, Greenock"s goal coming courtesy of a fine Stephen Docherty drive, it was virtually all the home side in the second period.

But their luck was out again in 70 minutes when Sean Stirling"s header hit the inside of the post and fell into the keeper"s arms.

And a quickfire double from the "Candy Rock" in the final 10 minutes put an unfair gloss on the scoreline.

Greenock must tighten up at the back to progress in the Central League Cup tomorrow at home to Neilston, kick-off 7pm, with penalties if level after 90 minutes.

Greenock: Wilson, McWilliams, T Docherty (Campbell), Middlesworth, Stirling, Crawford (McLaughlin), MacDonald, S Docherty (Sabir), Gilmour, McKellar, Brown.

Greenock Juniors are sponsored by Allied Trades Ltd, Kingsley Wood Solicitors and Notaries and the Lighthouse Bar.
