MORTON have completed the signing of 18-year-old ex-Celtic player Carlo Monti on a two-year deal.

Monti, who has played at every level for Scotland, from under-16 to 19, put pen to paper on a contract that ties him to Cappielow until 2011 and then expressed his pleasure.

He said: 'I"m delighted to have signed for two years. It gives me the chance to build myself for the future and get some experience.

'I felt I did well [when signed on loan for the last month of the season] and the manager felt I did well.'

The youngster went on to say that there was not much difference from what he was used to in terms of the pace of the game, but commented: 'It"s a different level. I have been used to having a lot more of the ball and you get less time [in the First Division].

'You have experienced players around you. It"s more demanding and they need the points.'

Asked on his favoured position, Monti replied: 'I have played at left-back, left midfield or in the centre. I liked it in the centre of midfield when I played towards the end of the season.

'The manager is expecting big things from everyone next season and I am no different. I need to get experience.

'It"s going to be a tight league and I hope we can show some consistency. It will be an exciting league.'

Asked if he had received any other offers after leaving Celtic, he said: 'I had a few, but Morton gave me my chance. I wanted to show some loyalty back to them.'
