MORTON 0 CELTIC 1 (McGinn 35) CELTIC squeezed past Morton into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup at Cappielow last night with a goal by Niall McGinn 10 minutes before the interval.

It was a deserved, if not exactly impressive, victory for the Glasgow giants over a Morton side who gave everything for the cause.

Ton boss James Grady was proud of his players and said: "I think we started very well. We had the boys up for it right from the start.

"I think we maybe caught Celtic a wee bit cold with what we were going to bring to the game.

"But I think 10 or 15 minutes in, the strikers started to switch off a wee bit in terms of what we were asking them to do - one dropping on to Crosas and making sure he didn't get the ball cheaply, because we knew he'd step off the game. To be fair he did that and he's a decent player if given time, and he got that time.

"We spoke about it at half-time again and tried to get the strikers to know the extent of the job they had to do defensively.

"We contained Celtic in long spells. It was just that extra quality that they had.

"I think I've got to look at the goal. It's a very cheap goal to give away. It came from a throw-in where Fortune is getting marked on the wrong side. He gets along the byeline and crosses it and we're exposed from that.

"But I'm proud of the players. They gave us everything they had. I have reiterated in there that if they give a performance like that most Saturdays we'll many games in the First Division.

"No disrespect, but we've got to treat the likes of Dunfermline, Inverness, Dundee and Airdrie the same as we treated Celtic.

"If we do that we will win games in this division and get ourselves into a more realistic position."
