PETER WEATHERSON admits he doesn't know if he will be fit for the start of pre-season, as he suffers the effects of a pelvic injury.

The Ton striker has been hit by a condition which involves an inflammation of the pubis bone which, in the Ton striker's case, has been further complicated by a muscle strain.

And while Weatherson is hopeful of being fit for the start of pre-season training in three weeks, he admits the treatment he has had so far has not resolved the problem.

He said: "I've not had an operation, but I went to see a specialist at Rosshall about the injury.

"He said I didn't need an operation because it wasn't a hernia. It was a condition called osteitis pubis and I also had an abductor strain. The two injuries are related.

"Osteitis pubis is common among sportsmen and women. I consulted the specialist just after the season ended and received a cortisone injection two-and-a-half weeks ago to settle everything down.

"The specialist told me to rest for two or three weeks and see how it was after that.

"It doesn't feel too good at the moment. If it doesn't improve, then I'll go back to see the specialist.

"He told me it wasn't a race and it was hard to put an exact timescale on how long to rest it. I don't know a huge amount about the injury but I don't think it can be operated on and rest is the main thing. "I can't do much fitness work just now, apart from upper body stuff. In my head I will be okay for the start of pre-season training in a few weeks but I'll need to just wait and see how it is." Weatherson has welcomed the imminent arrival of Allan Moore, right, who should be confirmed as Ton's new boss within 24 hours.

He said: "I played with Allan at Queen of the South and he is a very upbeat guy. He was the cocky type and full of fun and laughter.

"I'm sure he won't have lost that all as a manager, though there will be times when he needs to put his serious head on too."
