ATTACK: Moore.

ALLAN MOORE has a vision of free-flowing, attacking football aimed at attracting punters back in their droves to Cappielow.

Defensive football will be a thing of the past under the new Ton boss, who laid out an exciting blueprint for success in Greenock as he signed on the dotted line last night, above.

He said: "I always played with wide men at Stirling Albion and getting ones in the First Division that can produce crosses is a premium.

"I believe that if you have good strikers then you need balls coming in from wide areas for them to score.

"Straight balls up the pitch are too easy to defend, particularly in this division. We'll be hopeful of getting boys in who can make lots of crosses and create chances.

"My philosophy is that I would rather be beaten trying to play football than sit in and defend. It's cost me a few times, when I've went from four at the back to three.

"We played a local derby at Stirling against Alloa midway through the season. We were the better team and then Alloa scored.

"We didn't look like scoring so I took a defender off and we ended up getting beaten 3-0. That's hard against your local rivals. I got a bit of stick from the fans but my philosophy was to go and try and win the game."

Moore remains quietly confident of overseeing a serious improvement next season.

He said: "Mid-table is where I would probably see Morton next year. In my eyes, of course, I would like to come here and win the league.

"I look at Inverness, who were out of it at Christmas and came right through. Football is a funny game.

"You wouldn't have thought we would have got promotion at Stirling Albion with eight games to go but it can just take a wee spark.

"I played here for six months and I've also played a lot of games against Morton when Jim McInally was here.

"Jim is the same as me. He likes boys who can get the ball down and pass but also get up and down the pitch.

"He's got a good style of play and I think the Morton fans want that. I'm just hoping we can get it sooner rather than later."
