MORTON are close to agreeing a deal with Airdrie's Marc Smyth and have re-signed goalkeeper Colin Stewart for another year.

Ton chairman Douglas Rae said: "Smyth hasn't signed yet but we have had our eye on him for a while and am waiting to hear back from him, so the likelihood is he will be coming. He was Airdrie's outstanding player last season and would fit in well at Morton." Stewart has also agreed a one-year deal and Rae was delighted to get him on board. He said: "I am very pleased to sign Colin. His game improved dramatically last season and we look forward to seeing more from him next season." Stirling winger David O'Brien is also close to agreeing a deal. The club missed out on his former Stirling team-mate Andy Graham earlier this week, when he opted to join Hamilton.
