GREENOCK and District Welfare League recently held their end of season presentations at the Buckley's Firth Hotel in Gourock.

A fantastic night was had by all in attendance. Winners as follows.

Team awards: BEL League winners - Boca Bay Juniors. Gary Millar Memorial Trophy - MISC. Keyline Builders Merchants Cup - MISC. Hugh Kennedy Memorial Cup - MISC. Fair Play Award - Whinhill, only two yellow cards all season, very well done lads.

Individual awards: Players' Player of the Year - Brian Lindsay of Wilson's Coaches. Player of the Year - Adam Kelly of Boca Bay Juniors and Kenny McKenzie of Wilson's Coaches jointly. Top Goalscorer - Gavin Redmond of MISC.

The committee would like to thank all our sponsors for their kind generosity and donations towards the league for last season, Keyline Builders Merchants, Greenock; Albert Hotel, Gourock; Buckley Events, Gourock and Brodies Farmhouse Restaurant, Houston.

We thank all the member clubs secretaries, managers and referees for their hard input throughout the season and most of all to the players that participate in the league week in week out. Your efforts are contributing towards having a very sporting footballing competition locally.

l Greenock and District held on to the Rolls Royce Cup for the second time in their history when defeating Forth and Endrick 3-0 at Drymen in mid June. This was an excellent display from the players selected and a credit to our league. Goals came from Mark Sweeney, Brian McClure and Jed Arthur.

l The AGM will be held on Monday 2 August at 7.30pm, venue to be confirmed. Thank you to everyone connected to the Greenock and District Welfare League for another successful season. We look forward to next season with much optimism.
