BACK IN ACTION: Allan Jenkins.

ALLAN Jenkins is desperate to consign two injury-ravaged seasons to the past and finally prove to Ton fans he is capable of taking the First Division by storm.

The towering midfielder has been laid low with a series of injuries, including a torn medial ligament which kept him out for the best part of three months last season.

But now he is flying under Allan Moore's new regime and believes the time has come to fully establish himself at Cappielow.

The 29-year-old said: "I think the fans have only seen what I am capable of in fits and starts.

"It's the last season of my contract and I want to show my best because I've had some criticism in the past.

"That's all part of the game. It happened at Stranraer when I was captain and at Gretna when I was part of a successful team.

"Supporters only see what's on the park. They don't always know the full story about injuries.

"That's not giving excuses but I would like to think I can stay fit and make a push this season to show the fans that I've not been a wasted signing.

"I owe it to myself more than anyone to get back to the level I'm capable of."

The fiercely-dedicated Jenkins has needed no encouragement to embrace Moore's fitness revolution at Ton and is benefiting from the punishing double sessions

He added: "The manager has said he will get us fit and make sure we get about the park.

"He has a new approach with the use of heart monitors and all the rest. I'm feeling good so far.

"I knew the two previous managers, Davie Irons and James Grady, from Gretna. Whether you get into a comfort zone, I don't know.

"I had my run-ins with Davie Irons and I might even have my moments with Allan.

"But if the gaffer gets me fit then I'll hopefully do the business for him on the park.

"I'm not saying we'll win the league but I think you'll see a different Morton next season."
