JOHN Laird has been announced as Morton's new director of youth football and unveiled big plans to revamp the club's infrastructure.
A successful businessman and diehard Morton fan, Laird took the role after becoming concerned at the lack of local talent.
He said: "I am prepared to put my own time, money and expertise into reversing this trend by revamping youth development at Morton.
"I have recently met the management and coaches and I am delighted they are in full agreement with our vision for the future.
"Immediate changes will see better organisation, discipline and involvement. Youth players should be proud, as I am, to be part of such a fantastic club."
Open trials will be held for under-15 level in the coming days.
In addition, Laird would be delighted to hear, via the club, from experienced personnel interested in helping with first aid, coaching or scouting youth players in under 15s, 17s and 19s categories.
