GOAL HUNT: Allan Moore.

ALLAN Moore is hoping his misfiring strikers have responded to a hands-on approach this week - with the Morton boss personally conducting training sessions with his front men.

Ton have struggled to find the net in their opening matches this season, save for a 7-1 league cup thumping of Stranraer.

And they were punished for their profligacy on Saturday as Dunfermline stole a late victory.

And Moore, pictured, is so desperate to see his forwards start banging in the goals he devoted special attention to them on the training ground.

Speaking ahead of Ton’s clash with Partick Thistle tomorrow, he told the Tele: “Hopefully we can turn our possession into goals this week, as that’s the only thing that’s been disappointing.

“I worked the strikers personally in the afternoons and Mark McNally worked with the midfielders and the defenders.

“So if we don’t score on Saturday you can blame me, and if we keep a clean sheet you can praise Mark!

“We scored seven against Stranraer, so it’s not as if we can’t score goals. We just need to be bit cuter when we get the ball forward.

“The strikers maybe need to start creating chances for themselves rather than relying on others to do that for them.”

However, Moore has been encouraged by the overall performances of his side and feels his renovated squad have been playing some attractive football.

He said: “I think we’d be more worried if we weren’t playing well, but we’re relatively pleased with the performances.

“We need to turn these performances into victories, as that is the be all and end all.

“But we are trying to get the ball on the ground and we’re trying to pass it.”

Partick represent a tough proposition for Ton after they defeated title-favourites Dundee last weekend, but Moore insists that result only highlights how tight this league is likely to be.

He said: “Looking at the teams we’ve already played, I don’t thing we’ve got anything to fear from any of them.

“I think on their day anyone can beat anyone in this league, but winning games is about scoring goals and we’ve got to start doing that.”
