MORTON gaffer Allan Moore was impressed by the performances of two of the club’s youth players against St Johnstone - and admitted they will continue to get chances this season.
Ryan Kane, bottom, and Nathan Shephard, top, both faced the SPL outfit in Tuesday’s Co-operative Insurance Cup defeat and were praised by their boss.
But Moore stressed any exposure they received would have to be monitored and they should not expect to be regular starters.
He said: “It was a great occasion for them to play up at McDiarmid Park against a premier league team and I think they did reasonably well.
“Wee Nathan did well at left-back, although he got caught out for the second goal, and young Ryan didn’t get much of the ball but he worked tirelessly.
“They are boys we’ll use throughout the season but Mark McNally and I will play them when it’s right.”
