INJURY LIST: Allan Moore.

MORTON'S injury list has started to clear after the international break allowed players some much-needed rest.

Ton had several players carrying knocks, including Fouad Bachirou, Kevin McKinlay, David McGregor and David O’Brien.

After a few days off due to the international break, boss Allan Moore, left, was pleased to report progress on several fronts.

He said: “We sent Fred back over to France to see his family. He had a stomach muscle injury but he has been doing a bit of running over in France and is making good progress.

“We could be doing with him back in the squad. We are hoping Kevin McKinlay will be fit for Saturday and David MacGregor was back doing some running today.

“We had a game against Dumbarton last night and are up at Lennoxtown for a game with Celtic on Wednesday to give some of the fringe players a work out.”

In Ton’s last game before the break, they lost 1-0 to league leaders Raith Rovers after a late goal from Gregory Tade.

Cowdenbeath are the visitors on Saturday, with the Fife side, who beat Partick Thistle 2-1 in their last league game, sitting two points ahead of Morton in the First Division table.

But Moore is confident that his side will get back to winning ways.

He said: “We’ve got to be winning these games at home. The result is more important than the performance but I would like to turn in a good performance, too.

“Against Raith, we dominated the game in spells but lost a slack goal. Hopefully we can get on the scoresheet on Saturday. But we can’t take anything for granted.

“They got a good result against Partick Thistle. I think it might be a similar game to Stirling Albion, in the sense that they might not attack much.

“Having said that, I saw them against Queen of the South and they played well and gave them problems. They were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline that day.

“There are no mugs in this league but if we go into the game with the right attitude then I think we can get a good result.”
