Moore on Swedish spying mission
ALLAN Moore will today return from a scouting mission to Stockholm where the Morton manager planned to meet agents to discuss potential signing targets.
Moore made the trip to the Swedish capital as he widens the net in his search for new players, opening the door for a new Viking invasion at Cappielow.
The Ton chief was also set to take in last night's Sweden v Finland game, and was planning to meet with Finland boss Mixu Paatelainen - whose contacts around Europe helped him transform Kilmarnock into a scintillating side last season.
Moore says he is looking to bolster his attacking options - and plans to make further contact with another target, ex-St Johnstone striker Peter MacDonald, when he returns to the country today.
Moore told the Tele: "My priority is up front and I'll be looking to get a striker in before I go to try and get anybody else in for another area.
"I'm going to meet a couple of agents in Stockholm who might have some players available so we'll wait and see how that goes.
"There is nothing new to say about Peter McDonald but I'll be looking to talk to him when I get back to see where we stand."
Meanwhile, Moore is playing it cool over contract rebel Carlo Monti's chances of making a U-turn - with rumours circulating suggesting the winger could yet return to the club.
The former Celtic youngster turned down a contract offer from Ton last month, and although Moore has admitted the player could come back to Cappielow, he said he was now looking elsewhere.
He said: "My priorities have changed and I've already got a left-back in Ross Forsyth, so that's how it is at the moment.
"I might bring Carlo back and I might not - it depends on the budget and where I feel we need to strengthen.
"Carlo had his opportunity - he was offered a good contract three times and has knocked it back.
"The other boys were all quite happy to bite my hand off for a contract and, at the end of the day, I want boys who want to play for me and want to play for Morton."

Report commentWhat an interesting close season. For the first time in years, there is genuine excitement amongst the fans about the quality of signings and the prospect of more to come. It would be a good move on the part of the club to get the season ticket pricing out as soons as possible to capitalise of that feeling!

Report commentPlease only buy players that want to play for Morton and who want to help the team succeed, and not players who just want a wage packet (Monti). Swedish football is like Scottish football in the style and commitment of play at club level. It may also pay to have a player from Sweden who could play for Morton during the Swedish winter break like Larsson did at Man U.
