'I can still be Andy for Irish'
MORTON striker Andy Jackson insists he has not given up hope of representing the Republic of Ireland again.
The 23-year-old, pictured, who scored his first Ton goal in Tuesday's friendly against Motherwell, was last involved with the Irish set-up in 2008, winning an under-21 cap after enjoying a stellar season at St Johnstone.
And he hopes if he can have an impressive season at Cappielow, he could earn himself an international recall at B-team level.
He said: "When I was younger, the SFA were invited to come and watch me play, but I was never called up for any of the youth teams.
"Ireland then came and asked me if I'd be willing to play for them, and I accepted the opportunity.
"I qualify through my grandparents on my mum's side of the family.
"My mum was born in Scotland, but she moved to Ireland at two and only came back when she was 25. So she grew up there and speaks with an Irish accent.
"I'm too old to play for the 21s now, but I'd never say never in terms of playing at some level again, as it only takes one person to watch me impress in a game.
"I'd be delighted to maybe pick up a B cap sometime in the future, but all I'm really focused on at the moment is doing well for Morton."
