Attempt for Moore cash
ALLAN Moore will have talks with Morton chairman Douglas Rae today to determine if there is scope to secure additional funds to add new faces to his squad.
The manager, above, is currently working with a pool of only 14 fit players - with winger Sean Fitzharris and defender Andy Graham having recently suffered injuries.
Moore has been left with only four fit defenders while securing another goalie is also a priority - but the Cappielow boss insists the final decision rests with his chairman.
He said: "We'll obviously need to sit down with the chairman on Tuesday and have a chat about that as there is no money available at the moment.
"We didn't have a sub goalkeeper against St Mirren and that's one that doesn't look like getting resolved any time soon. We've only got four recognised defenders now with Andy Graham out. We've got a squad of 14 at the moment."
Morton face a trip to Queen's Park tonight for a match behind closed doors.

Report commentOnly 14 fit players at the start of a new season is ridiculous. Obviously you can't legislate for injuries - and best wishes for a speedy recovery for Andy Graham - but 20 players is a minimum and a substitute goalkeeper is not a luxury it is a necessity.
Mr Rae is a wily old fox and knows that Morton have to get off to a flier in the League for a change and let's hope that the 'Ton don't have their usual slump at the end of the season!
Survival looks like being the hope for the coming season but I hope for the long suffering fans that I am wrong.
I might be in a minority but I hope that Stranraer win on Saturday - get out of the cups as soon as possible - there is no money in them these days - to prevent more injuries.
Best of luck to The Hoops from an exiled Portonian!!!!!

Report commentCould someone at the Tele tell Mr Tait, the reporter, that the continual play on words, with people's names, is not clever, not funny, not good journalism, it's inane. I think that a clever reporter can do a bit better than that. Ever see it done by a quality paper? Attempt for Moore cash indeed! Come on, Tele, pick it up - sensible headlines please. First guy I remember doing this sort of stuff was a Fraser Elder on Sportscene at 5pm on Saturdays as the results came through. Pun after pun anfer pun, with word plays that made you cringe. He obviously thought it was clever, but it was drivvel, and still is.
