Moore eyes up Fir Park cup shock
ALLAN Moore has called on his players to rise to the occasion today when Morton take on SPL side Motherwell in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
The Cappielow outfit lost for the first time in five matches on Saturday and will need to rediscover their form if they are to clinch a place in the quarter-finals.
And the Ton gaffer, inset, hopes Motherwell - who have scored six goals in two matches - also suffer a dip in form to give his side the best chance of progressing.
Moore told the Tele: "We know it's going to be difficult. We need to try and limit their chances as they have players that can hurt you.
"But it's a cup game and hopefully we can go there and raise our standards, and also hope that they have an off-day. That's what you need and we saw that last weekend when Falkirk and Ayr United played Celtic and Kilmarnock in their semi-finals of the Scottish Communities League Cup.
"They were both pretty close but usually the bigger teams scrape through in the end. We certainly hope that we can reverse that.
"It's the Scottish Cup and that is a competition you want to stay in as long as you can.
"There will be a lot of big clubs in the next round so we will certainly give it our best shot.
"I do feel that we've always got a goal in us but we need to start getting clean sheets to give us something to build on. That's disappointing as it's not happened often enough this season."
