ANDY Barrowman and Robbie Crawford both scored their first goals for the club as Morton fought back from behind to beat basement boys Airdrie 2-1 at Cappielow this afternoon.

Gary Bollan’s Diamonds went into the encounter propping up the table after failing to win any of their first six competitive fixtures or even score a goal on league duty.

But they stunned the Ton by taking the lead with quarter of an hour played when Liam Watt crashed a thunderous volley past Derek Gaston from outside the box.

Jim Duffy made changes at the break, replacing Reece Hands with the returning Jamie McCluskey and tweaking the shape of his midfield four.

The switch made a discernible difference and the hosts soon levelled through experienced hitman Barrowman, who swept home a convincing finish from 15 yards.

And Rangers loanee Crawford completed the turnaround on 68 minutes by forcing in the rebound after Joe McKee’s low drive was repelled by Airdrie goalkeeper Andrew McNeil.

The victory ended a run of three consecutive defeats for Duffy’s men and sent them to within one point of Dunfermline at the top of the table.
