The 18-year-old from Greenock has starred for club and country over the last few years, winning the SFA Youth Cup 12 months ago and playing for the unbeaten Scotland under-19s side who came within a whisker of qualifying for the European Championships.

Despite his form and earning a place on the bench of the Rangers first team, the right-back’s long-term future at Murray Park was uncertain. But ahead of the start of the new season, Ibrox bosses signed him up on a two-year deal and he is relieved to be back concentrating on the football.

Sinnamon said: “It was good to finally get it sorted because it was stalling for a while and I didn’t know what was happening so it was good to get it sorted and concentrate on the football again.

“I’m happy to stay here, I’m comfortable here and I feel at home.

“Going and starting at a fresh team would’ve been different and I would’ve had to get used to it — I didn’t want to do that.” Sinnamon has broken into the first-team squad and was named amongst the substitutes under former manager Stuart McCall.

But now he is working hard to impress new boss Mark Warburton and his assistant, Rangers legend Davie Weir, who he hopes to learn a lot from.

The former St Columba’s High pupil will also travel with the first team to London later this week to work at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground as pre-season steps up a gear. Sinnamon said: “We are going down to play Tottenham on Thursday — their development team — and I’m heading down so I’m really looking forward to that.

“I’m on the fringes of the first team and I’m hoping to try and catch the manager’s eye and just stay in and about where I am just now.

“David Weir was a great defender for the club, so I can definitely learn a few things.” Sinnamon has also been spurred on by another Inverclyde-based Rangers player, Gourock’s Robbie Crawford, right.

He said: “He edges me on and I know Robbie from First Touch as well so I’ve known him for a while and it’s good to have a friendly face.” With one eye on the new season, one match that catches the eye is Rangers against his hometown club Morton.

And Sinnamon says event if he is not in the squad for the matches at Ibrox and Cappielow, he will be watching in the stand excitedly.

He said: “If I’m not part of the team or squad I’m keen to go there as a fan.

“I’ll be hoping that Rangers win obviously but I’ll be there at the game.”
