Penalty bid gets Moore nod
Allan Moore says he would be more than happy for Peter Weatherson to replicate his Andrea Pirlo-style penalty in the First Division - just as long as he scores with it.
Frontman Weatherson, 32, fooled Rapid Bucharest keeper Danut Coman by sensationally chipping his spot-kick down the middle, just as Pirlo had in Italy's recent Euro 2012 quarter-final shootout with England.
Ton boss Moore was left gutted last season when two missed penalties in consecutive Saturday matches saw his side drop four points as they were held to 0-0 draws by Falkirk and Partick Thistle.
The memory of those misses now means that his only concern is seeing the ball finish up in the opposition goal, no matter who takes responsibility or how they go about converting.
Moore told the Tele: "Peter's shown a bit of calmness to take it the way he has, and, if it goes in the back of the net again, I'd be more than happy for him to hit a penalty like that in a league game.
"We missed a couple last season which cost us vital points, and if we scored those it could have taken us up a place or two in the league.
"So if Peter is willing to step up and take them, I don't care if he hits them with his backside as long as he scores.
"At the end of the day, all that matters is that the ball ends up in the back of the net. Peter MacDonald was our regular penalty taker last season, but big Peter has staked a claim now."
