Midfielder McKee is enjoying a resurgence under new boss Jim Duffy after an injury-plagued first season in which he also fell out of favour with Kenny Shiels.

Playing on the right of midfield, the 21-year-old saw an early drive blocked by the feet of visiting goalkeeper William Bald.

It was a chance McKee really should have taken. But he made no mistake on 26 minutes when he whipped the ball into the postage stamp top corner after working a short corner with Conor Pepper.

It was a sensational strike, and one that ensured Morton would go in at the break holding a slim, one-goal advantage over their League Two opponents.

But they were pegged back just after the hour mark when Lee Currie squeezed a spot-kick under Nicolas Caraux after skipper Stefan Milojevic was adjudged to have blocked a shot with his arm.

The sides were level for less than 60 seconds, however, as Ton went straight up the other end and restored their lead.

Thomas O’Ware, who played the full 90 minutes as a striker, twisted and turned on the edge of the box, working the space for a shot which deflected across the face of the box.

From out of nowhere, but right on cue, up popped McKee to lash a firm left-footed finish past the hapless Bald.

Ton were comfortable from then on in, and the tie was truly put beyond doubt when Paul Currie was sent packing for a reckless sliding challenge on Michael Miller.
