PORT GLASGOW travel through to the picturesque Clyde Valley tonight for their penultimate league match of the season.
But it will be anything but a relaxing evening in the leafy suburbs of Lanark.
The Port"s status in the upper reaches of the junior game is at stake. Three points are vital, and even one may not be enough.
But the footballing gods have conspired against the Port in the league run-in.
For Lanark, playing their final fixture, a win is equally vital. It would clinch third spot, and a double-header against Glenafton for a place in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Port fans will have one eye on the progress of the match between Annbank and Kilbirnie, also being played tonight.
With Annbank and Shotts being the teams the Port need to catch, it is unfortunate that Kilbirnie have now sealed their promotion and have little to play for, though it"s hoped pride will be a sufficient spur.
Port boss Craig Brown and his men will, however, be fully focused on matters in hand at Lanark.
He said: 'After losing our last three games, I am relieved that we are still in with a chance of staying up.
'But the most disappointing thing in recent weeks has been that we have not shown what we are well capable of.
'Tonight would be the perfect time to rectify that, and the big pitch at Lanark should suit our passing game.
'I feel that a win tonight would put us in pole position. I know we can do it, and so do the players, so we remain positive.'
The squad will be at almost full strength, with the welcome return of Kevin Struthers from holiday.
Kick-off at Moor Park, Lanark, is at 7.30pm.
