PORT GLASGOW hope it will be second time lucky, as they head to Denny tomorrow to face Dunipace.

The fixture was originally scheduled for just before Christmas, but that date heralded the start of the first big freeze of the winter. And, despite us now being into March, a mini version of the same continues to create havoc with the fixture list.

Aside from the frustration of postponed games, Port are desperate to get back into action in a bid to secure their place in the Central First Division for another season.

And tomorrow's match is another of those crunch games against one of the teams in close proximity to them in the league table. In fact, Dunipace could not be any closer, lying just one place and one point below Port Glasgow, but with two games in hand.

Port boss Craig Brown said: "It is a chance to get the win which would create some distance between us and Dunipace, but I expect a tough game. They ran Largs Thistle close in the West of Scotland Cup, drawing 1-1 in Ayrshire before being knocked out on penalties.

But that was back in October, and things have changed since then. We were five points behind them in the league at that time, but are now one ahead."

Brown reports a clean bill of health for his squad, with recent signings Thomas Molloy, Kevin McKay and Chris McGarvie yet to kick a ball in earnest following the spate of postponements.

Kick-off at Westfield Park, Denny, is scheduled for 2pm.

Port Glasgow Juniors are sponsored by 5 Star Plasterers, and WJ.
