Stevie Mooney.

IT MIGHT be tempting fate, but lots of goals and good entertainment could be on the cards tomorrow when Greenock travel to face Johnstone Burgh.

In their two encounters so far this season, one in the Sectional League Cup, the other in the league, the teams have shared 10 goals in 2-2 and 3-3 draws.

Another more noteworthy stat is that this will be the Burgh's first league match for FIVE months.

Their league campaign had to go on the back burner when their scheduled Scottish Cup match against Vale of Clyde went into the record books, after being postponed an incredible 11 times between October and January.

So the Renfrewshire club will be keen to start making inroads into their fixtures backlog, with tomorrow's match having a potentially crucial impact on both club's promotion prospects.

Greenock will be boosted by the return of Sean Stirling, whose three-game ban after being ordered off at Yoker in November has only now been completed.

Manager Stevie Mooney is hinting of an immediate return to the team for the big defender.

He said: "We have been teasing Sean at training this week with shouts of 'the bad boy returns', but it is a big boost for the team that he is back, especially as we will be without Roland Fabiani.

Sean has kept himself fit at training and his return increases the competition for places, which is no bad thing. Johnstone Burgh are a bit like ourselves this season, with a number of new, young players, but with a few experienced guys as well.

But I feel we have the players who can be match-winners."

Kick-off at Keanie Park, Johnstone, is at 2pm.

● Greenock Juniors are sponsored by Regent Vehicle Sales, Greenock, Kingsley Wood Solicitors and Notaries, and the Lighthouse Bar.
