PORT Glasgow’s penultimate match of the season sees them head to East Kilbride tomorrow.

The game will finally go ahead at the fourth time of asking, after three weather-related postponements earlier in the league campaign.

On any of those dates the Port would have been odds-on favourites to win comfortably, but East Kilbride, under new management, are no longer the whipping boys of the division.

Even though they remain at the foot of the table, the New Town club have turned in some decent performances of late, and in recent weeks have only lost to promoted Vale of Clyde and Blantyre Vics by the odd goal.

Nevertheless, the Port would still be expected to win, had they been travelling to East Kilbride with the bulk of the team which beat Forth Wanderers 4-2 at Parklea last Saturday.

But, as has been the case so often this season, manager Craig Brown has been hit with a number of call-offs.

Paul Gordon, Graham Black and Simon McBryde, pictured, are all unavailable, and recent trialist Abu Mansare’s stop-start involvement with the club sees him not around for tomorrow’s game.

Meanwhile on the injury front, Craig McCormick took a knock near the end of last week’s game and is now hobbling about on crutches with suspected ligament damage.

It all adds to the frustration for manager Brown, who at least has some consolation with the return of Brendan Sharp after his recent bug, while Sharp’s namesake Grana looks to have shaken off an injury which ruled him out of the first of this week’s two training sessions.

Brown said: ‘’After a great performance last week, I was hoping for some continuity for tomorrow’s match, when a win could see us move up to mid-place in the league table.

“But again we have a host of players missing for various reasons, and that has definitely cost us points this season.” Kick-off at Show Park, East Kilbride, is at 2pm.

Port Glasgow Juniors are sponsored by Regents Vehicle Sales, Greenock, and WJ.
