THE Alex Hunter Summer Time Trial League has entered its 16th week of the 20 planned races.

Last year’s winner Andrew White is leading the league and improving week on week.

Alan Holms went sub 30 minutes two weeks ago and Andrew is two seconds away after last Tuesday’s performance.

Other rides of note last week were Nial Blackburn on a standard road bike with a 30.37, receiving a personal best (PB) from Alex’s time sheet.

Kevan McCartney also showed good speed on the 13-mile Velo course with a fantastic time of 31.38, also a PB.

Largs rider Adam Smith, who admits time trialing is not his favoured discipline, also achieved a PB with a creditable 32.43.

Inverclyde Velo also saw the return of Rodger Boyd Jnr to racing on Tuesday evening to compete in the time trial.

Rodger won Alex’s league over 20 years ago and is the first name on the sought-after trophy.

Rodger was knocking on the door of a sub 30 minutes back then and is a welcome return to Tuesday night racing.
