AIDAN Nesbitt has extended his loan until the end of the season — and boss Jim Duffy is delighted to have the Celtic youngster’s deal sewn up.

Nesbitt’s contract at Cappielow expired yesterday and there had been speculation that the creative winger may have been contemplating a return to Parkhead.

But Duffy has moved to renew the 19-year-old’s stay, and the gaffer hopes the youngster can continue making strides at Cappielow in his development as a player — and be a big player for Ton in the second chapter of the current campaign.

Duffy told the Tele: “It’s one of those situations where there were different elements to the deal, it wasn’t quite as straightforward as we wanted.

“Aidan had to want to be here and obviously there was Celtic as well.

“All parties felt it was the best scenario and solution for Aidan as a player and for his development. And we are delighted to have him on board now until the end of the season.

“He has undoubted talent, and like any young player, he just has to find a level of consistency. If he can do that, he can certainly be a very important player for us in the second half of the season.”

Meanwhile, defender Gavin Gunning is still considering extending his stay at Morton.
