MICHAEL Tidser says Morton’s unbeaten home record is a tremendous achievement — and he hopes they can extend it for a few more months to make it a full year without defeat.

Ton’s last defeat at Cappielow came on March 26 2016, when James Craigen scored the winner for Raith Rovers in a 1-0 victory for the Kirkcaldy outfit.

Since then, 15 games in Greenock have come and gone with Ton no closer to letting their run slip, as all the Championship big guns have tried and failed to overcome the odds on Sinclair Street.

Tidser reckons it’s an achievement to be proud of — and build on. He told the Tele: “If you look at performances from the last three or four months it’s been really consistent.

“We know about the record and if we win another few games that’s a full year unbeaten at home.

“It’s a great achievement for everyone involved.

“I can’t really think of many teams, especially in our division, who can say they’ve gone a full year without losing at home.

“I don’t know how many games that is at Cappielow in that time, so it really is a great achievement.

“There have been big games as well, Hibs have been there, Dundee

United have been there, so it’s testament to the lads and everyone involved at the club — and hopefully we can do it.”

Tidser was pleased to play the full 90 minutes against Dumbarton at the weekend and was delighted to notch his second goal of the season, right.

He’s also happy to take up spot-kick duty for Ton after burying what proved to be the winner after Aidan Nesbitt went down in the area.

He said: “It was nice to get 90 minutes under my belt. I was in the team a couple of weeks ago against Hibs and then I was back out again.

“But to come in and to score as well was nice.

“To win the game was important, it was a hard fought three points for us.

“It’s nice to score, no matter if it’s the first, second or third goal.

“It proved to be the winner. The gaffer said before the game if there was a penalty that I should take it, so he showed a bit of confidence in me and I managed to stick it away.

“I was on penalties at the start of the season but got injured for a spell. Tam [O’Ware] took one [against Dunfermline] and missed.

“But I’d like to think if I’m out there and in the starting 11 that the gaffer would be confident enough for me to step up and take it.”
