MORTON boss Jim Duffy today revealed he’s looking at potentially bringing in one more new face before the January window shuts.

Aberdeen striker Lawrence Shankland put pen to paper on a loan deal at Cappielow until the end of the season on Wednesday and Duffy believes the 21-year-old can do a job up front for the remainder of the campaign.

But while the boss admits that he’s still in the market, he won’t be overdoing it — because he doesn’t want to disrupt the harmony and atmosphere amongst the current crop of players in the dressing room already.

Speaking exclusively to the Tele, Duffy said: “There might be another one coming in, but it’ll be no more than that. Ideally I wouldn’t want more than that. We’ve got a good group of players who have worked extremely hard this season to put themselves into the position we’re in.

“If we can add one or two [every January], we’ll add one or two. Each year that I’ve been at the club I haven’t changed things dramatically in January. I think I’ve added two players each time. Unless we get an injury or someone leaves, which I don’t anticipate, things won’t differ.

“There’s never been too many changes and I don’t think there will be too many changes again this time.

“But you never know in football, if a player becomes available or comes to your attention, or someone gets injured and you need to bring someone else — then there is scope to bring someone else in.

“At the moment it’s about trying to make sure we have strength in depth and competition, which is ideal. But we need to make sure we don’t dismantle the team that we’ve got and that togetherness that we have.”

Duffy is aware that the challenge facing his side from now until the end of the season is a huge one, to try and secure a place in the promotion play-offs.

He said: “We just want to emulate the first part of the season.”
