MICHAEL Tidser believes Morton are well-equipped in the midfield — and manager Jim Duffy was right not to strengthen the engine room.

The 27-year-old has recently been kept out of the Ton side by the impressive Jamie Lindsay and Andy Murdoch, so he reckons the middle area of the pitch is an area where the Greenock outfit already look in good shape.

And he insists that there are other players who could also impress in the centre of the park should they be called upon.

He said: “I think if you look at the performances of the boys over the last few months, say three or four months, it’s been really consistent.

“Obviously there’s the home record and potential for a lengthy spell unbeaten [a full year, come March].

“But I think we’re strong in that area of the park. There’s Ross Forbes as well, he’s actually predominantly a central midfielder, who is doing very well wide right.

“And you can always put Tam O’Ware in there as well, which is something we’ve done in the past.

“I know we’d then be a wee bit light at the back, but the gaffer always has options and he rotates it.

“I know the two boys in midfield have played together a lot and have done really well, but I do think we’re quite strong in there already.”
