MICHAEL Doyle is delighted his social media exploits are helping to turn him into a fans’ favourite around Cappielow.

Doyle, 25, has become the talk of the Twittersphere for posting motivational pictures and quotes after every game.

And while he says it all started out as a joke, he acknowledges that supporters are now tuning in to his Twitter feed to see what he’s going to post next.

He told the Tele: “With the changing room we have, it’s always a good bit of banter that I’m usually involved in one way or another. I’m probably a bit of a pain sometimes!

“It started on Twitter, I put a post up after a game at the start of the year, and I got a bit of a slagging for it. But it was on the funny side so I started doing more as a laugh, and the boys actually look forward to it now!

“Especially if we lose, it’s to try and cheer people up. If you win it’s a good laugh as well. I’ve noticed the fans are getting involved now which is great.

“At the end of the day, the fans are the biggest part about the club and it’s nice to be able to have a good laugh with them too.

“I know what it’s like to be a fan myself, I spent a lot of my days watching my dad play amateur football. I go and enjoy watching Scotland games too as a fan, so I always think it’s good for the players and the fans.

“I’m just a player for their club and a fan first and foremost.

“They’re supporters of the club and you want to show that you’d do anything for the club.

“I like to prove that both on and off the park. And I don’t like when players think they’re better than people, at the end of the day you’re part of their club and I’m glad that’s come across that way.”
