RICKI Lamie insists it would be impossible to replicate Dundee United’s fluke goal from the weekend — such was the luck involved in Mark Durnan’s equaliser in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Tannadice.
Neither Lamie nor goalscorer Durnan knew much about the defender’s late leveller which prevented Morton from grabbing their first league win over Dundee United at Tannadice in almost 40 years.
And Lamie says you could ‘try it again 100 times’ and still come up short.
He told the Tele: “The corner came in and over the top of everybody and I’m marking the centre half. As it’s come over I’ve stuck my foot out to clear it, but it’s come to me that quick.
“I’ve cleared it, it’s hit off the back of their player and looped over Mark
Russell on the line. You could try it 100 times and you wouldn’t be able to do it again. When your luck isn’t in, those goals go in.”
Lamie believes Ton can be happy with their performance against Ray McKinnon’s men, particularly in the first half.
He said: “I thought we dominated everything in the first half. Possession, play, chances. In the second half they put us under a bit of pressure and came back into it a wee bit.
“But at the same time, I don’t think big Derek [Gaston] had that much to do in goal.
“He had a couple of saves point-blank but they never really created that much. I can only think of two or three.”
