GARY Oliver hopes to be back in the Morton starting line-up again soon as he concludes his recovery from a mystery virus.

The 22-year-old striker missed a few weeks of action recently after suffering an unknown infection but has been involved from the bench for Ton in the last few fixtures.

Oliver is desperate to be back playing from the start as quickly as possible.

He told the Tele: “I’d say I’m not too far away from full match fitness now.

“I’ve been training hard and doing some extra work but it’s difficult coming off the bench during games. It can be hard to get going but hopefully I’m ready for a full 90 minutes now.

“I think if I can get a start next week or in the next few weeks I could get back to my best.

“It’s hard coming off the bench to influence games, the rest of the players are all up to speed and you’re coming in fresh to a game that’s being played at 100 miles per hour.

“Your touch is maybe not there or whatever.

“But my fitness and sharpness is feeling better, I’ve played with the reserves as well which can do me a bit of justice in terms of fitness as well, so I should be ready to start soon."
