LEE Kilday reckons Morton boss Jim Duffy will take every precaution necessary to make sure he returns to action the right way — even if it means doing without him for another few weeks.
Kilday has already missed key fixtures for Ton this season since a recurrence of an ankle injury at the end of last term.
But the 25-year-old defender knows his gaffer won’t take any risks with his fitness — just like he did with fellow Ton centre-back Thomas O’Ware, who has only recently returned from long-term injury himself.
He told the Tele: “The gaffer won’t want to rush me back, a bit like what he did with Thomas O’Ware when he was out with his injury.
“He gave Tam a couple of weeks to run before he was right back in training.
“So I would imagine he’ll do the same with me because I’ve been out of action a bit longer now.
“But I’m hoping it’s just another two or three weeks until I’m back in training full on.”
Captain Kilday is as competitive as they come and wants to kick every ball with his team-mates from the stands.
But he understands the severity of his injury — and is hopeful he can put his misery to bed once and for all as soon as possible.
He added: “It’s very frustrating watching the boys from the sidelines when you want to be on the pitch playing.
“The type of player I am as well, I’m a winner and I’m very competitive so it has been difficult, but I can only hope that’s me now on the mend and I’ll be back fit soon.”
