ROBERT Thomson admits he would’ve been pleased with a point from Saturday’s clash with Dunfermline — making the three points all the more sweeter.

Thomson’s goal early in the second half proved the spark to ignite Morton’s comeback from two goals down in the first half but the striker reckons his team-mates were dominant in the second half.

He believes that everyone inside Cappielow would have been satisfied with a draw after Ton gave themselves so much to do to get back into the game at the break.

He told the Tele: “It’s always good to get a win, especially when it comes like that it makes it even better. I think we’d have been happy with a draw after the way we’d performed in the first half. But we completely dominated the second half and got our just rewards.

“It’s easier to play when you’re down by one or two goals because there’s not as much pressure on you, given that you’re down already. It’s now about trying to play like that from the start and being consistent from the first whistle.

“When you’re coming from two goals down and you take it back to 2-2, that’s an achievement in itself. Obviously you’re trying to get the win, and I did always feel like we could nick it. We were that dominant in the second half.

“We got our rewards in the end.”

He added: “I’m pleased with another goal. It was a short back-pass from their centre-back and I’ve capitalised on it, so it’s pleasing to get goals and contribute to the team.

“Getting a goal so early in the second half gave us a lift and the crowd then got behind us. Then everyone feeds off that energy and I think we played brilliantly in the second half.

“It completely changed the atmosphere and the crowd really spurred us on to go and win the game.”
