GARY Harkins says he knew he had bagged the equaliser against Dunfermline on Saturday afternoon the moment the ball left his boot.
Harkins netted a stunning free-kick to get Ton back on level terms before Jai Quitongo eventually slotted home the winner in a dramatic fightback from the home side.
The midfielder insists he had a funny feeling Pars goalkeeper Sean Murdoch would get nowhere near his effort if he could get it over the wall — which he duly did in spectacular fashion.
He said: “I knew if I could get the ball over the wall, the goalkeeper wasn’t getting to it. So I got it over the wall thankfully and that was it, I knew it was going to be a goal.
“Pretty much as soon as I hit it I knew it was going in. Sometimes you get a wee nick off the wall or whatever but I knew it was going in. The keeper didn’t move too much and I was happy to get the equaliser.”
Harkins added: “It was good to get my first goal at Cappielow for Morton. Hopefully now I can kick on and maybe score a few more.”
