TON gaffer Jim Duffy insists goalkeeper Derek Gaston will need to be at his best again this weekend if his side are to leave Tannadice with a positive result.

Gats put in an outstanding performance last weekend to help his side come away from Palmerston Park with an excellent 2-1 win over Queen of the South.

And Duffy says a similar showing might prove crucial to Morton’s success this weekend.

But the manager admits it will take more than just his stopper on form to beat Ray McKinnon’s men — and says that everyone needs to be on their toes and keep full concentration for the 90 minutes.

He told the Tele: “Gats made two or three fantastic saves last weekend and he’s been a very consistent goalkeeper ever since I came to the club, I’m sure since even before that. But certainly since I’ve been here he’s been a very good goalkeeper.

“He’s started this season strongly and hopefully he can continue that, starting with Dundee United. But you need everyone to be at their game against United, we know that.

"We played them seven times last year which is a lot of games against one opponent.

“They’ve made changes. Their front two last year was Simon Murray and Tony Andreu who have both moved on. But it’s Scott McDonald, James Keatings, Paul McMullan and Sam Stanton now — so there’s still very good players there.

“We just have to be aware of that, acknowledge it, respect it and then go about our business. We have to be organised and effective when we get the chances like last weekend.

“You’re not going to be in control for 90 minutes but you’re also not going to be on the back-foot for 90 minutes.

“You’ve got to be clinical enough to take the opportunities when they come up and hope that’s good enough to come away with some points."
