DUNDEE United striker Scott McDonald is full of praise for Morton — admitting Jim Duffy’s men have found the key to attacking that his own side are still searching for.

United host Ton this afternoon for the first time this season after the pair squared off against each other seven times last year.

McDonald insists the Terrors know to expect a difficult afternoon from their Greenock visitors, who are just off the back of two impressive results.

He told the Tele: “We’re looking to get a positive result, as are Morton, after they’ve come off two really positive results. Jim Duffy has done an amazing job there and the boy [Jai] Quitongo has been really impressive the last year or so.

“Ross Forbes was coming through the ranks at Motherwell when I was there and he’s always dangerous. So they have plenty of options attacking wise and that’s something we’re looking to put right ourselves at the moment.

“We’ve not been as free flowing as we’d like up until now in terms of goals, so it’d be nice to do that today.”

McDonald netted in his last outing against Ton — at Cappielow in Morton’s 3-2 extra-time victory over Motherwell in 2015. And he believes today will be just as tough a test for his new side.

He said: “I played against Morton in the League Cup for Motherwell a few seasons ago, they beat us that night under Ian Baraclough.

"I came on and scored the equaliser that night to take it to extra-time. I’ve played against them in friendlies as well. I know a lot about Jim Duffy and what he’s all about. His squad are hard working, they’ve got good unity and they’re very difficult to play against.

"I expect them to come at us, they won’t sit and let us dominate.”
