MORTON kid Scott Tiffoney swapped the first team for the 20s last week against Queen of the South teens and says it felt like being back playing football in the park with his pals.

The ambitious youngster admits he doesn’t want to get used to being back with the development squad — because he wants to make his mark in Jim Duffy’s starting 11.

But the 19-year-old acknowledges the benefit of starring for the 20s at Ton when opposition play several of their own first-team stars, like Gary Naysmith’s Doonhamers did last week.

He told the Tele: “Of course it’s nice to be back playing football with my mates for the under-20s now and then.

“But I want to be playing for the first team week in, week out, that remains my aim.

“When you’re playing under-20s games, you ideally want teams to play a few members of their first team squad. It’s a challenge that you face playing against the older more experienced heads like those in the first team. That helps you develop a lot.

“Queen of the South did it against us when they had four or five experienced players from their first team playing for the 20s.

“It can only help the younger boys improve, playing against these players.”
