JAI Quitongo has expressed his delighted at winning the SPFL goal of the month award for September — then admitted he would have voted for Graham Dorrans.

Quitongo picked up the gong for his thunderbolt against Queen of the South in last month’s 2-1 win at Palmerston Park.

But the striker revealed he felt Dorrans’s strike against Partick Thistle was a more worthy winner than his own effort.

He told the Tele: “I’m delighted to win it because it’s a nice personal accolade. It was up against some big names from bigger teams that were involved.

“I would have thought that maybe Graham Dorrans would have won it because it was a brilliant goal and Rangers might have a bigger fanbase.

“I would have voted for Dorrans because it was a really good goal.

“But there were a few, Mark McGuigan at Stenhousemuir, his was good as well.

“But those who voted thankfully thought mine was better and it’s one that I’ll be able to look back on.”
