MORTON boss Jim Duffy has confirmed Connor McManus’s injury is worse than first feared and that the midfielder won’t be available for a number of weeks.

McManus pulled up against Rangers a fortnight ago with a calf injury following an innocuous challenge and was subbed off at Auchenhowie.

The 21-year-old was then forced to watch Saturday’s 1-0 win over Brechin at Glebe Park from the stands.

And his manager has revealed to the Tele that the ex-Celtic colt’s issue will see him remain on the sidelines.

He said: “Connor is unfortunately still out.

“We didn’t think it was too much or too bad an injury at the time but it’s one of those ones where he can’t yet quite push off his calf.

“So that is keeping him out a bit longer than we would have hoped.”

Duffy also revealed that Michael Tidser is a doubt ahead of Dumbarton’s visit to Cappielow after the 27-year-old overstretched for a challenge during training on Wednesday.

Tidser had already been suffering from flu-like symptoms and Duffy said: “Michael overstretched during the week and we’re waiting on the report coming back but at this moment in time he’s doubtful.

“Everyone else who has been involved in the last few weeks is fine.”
