MORTON manager Jim Duffy is hoping the buzz of being in the Scottish Cup again can provide the spark to ignite his team’s fortunes.

Duffy is preparing to take his side to East End Park for Saturday’s fourth round clash against Dunfermline.

And the Ton boss reckons that the cup can add a real ‘feel-good factor’ to those teams who can progress in the competition.

He said: “Of course, you want to try to remain in the competition as long as you possibly can. It’s great.

“There’s nothing better than being in the hat for the next round.

“There’s always that wee bit of excitement when the draw is getting made.

“And if you’re not in it there’s a sense of disappointment and you’ve got a whole year to wait before it comes round again. You’re a bit flat for a few days if you’re not in the competition.”

Meanwhile, Morton’s development squad will face a road trip against Hibs in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Youth Cup.
Darren Barr’s side reached the last eight of the competition thanks to a 3-1 win over St Mirren and a 3-0 victory against Turriff United.

The date and venue of the last eight tie will be announced in due course.

Morton’s opponents booked their place in the last eight with a 2-1 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Sunday.
The full draw is as follows: Hibernian v Morton, Celtic v St Johnstone or Rangers, Stranraer or Motherwell v Kilmarnock, Aberdeen v Stirling Albion or Ross County.
