JAI Quitongo is hoping his weekend winner against Dunfermline will signal a goals glut.
Quitongo, who returned to the side from injury, took his season’s tally to five with his stunning strike at East End Park.
Now the talented youngster aims to shoot Morton back up the Championship table, starting this weekend against Dundee United at Tannadice.
Quitongo said: “I set myself goals and I’ve not really reached the goals that I should be.
“Maybe I’m being harsh on myself, maybe I’m not but I just want to stay injury-free and get back in amongst the goals.”
Quitongo has featured 21 times for Duffy’s side in all competitions this season but he’s hungry to produce more starring performances for Ton in the games to come.
He said: “The manager knows what I can do but I’m not one to spit the dummy out [if I’m not picked].
“If the manager picks the team, he picks the team. If I’m not playing and I’m on the bench, then I’m on the bench.
“But if I come on then I need to make an impact so I can play next week.”
Quitongo is delighted to see the club’s latest additions settle into life at Cappielow, especially former team-mate Frank Ross, who was with him during a spell as a youth at Aberdeen.
He said: “I knew Frank from up at Aberdeen and he’s a good player and he’s looked good in training.
“And Conor [Brennan] is a good, experienced goalkeeper too.
“But we’ve always had a good group of players. Now it’s about getting a run of games and everybody playing well.”
