JIM Duffy revealed how his Morton stars were ‘feeling the pain’ after they conceded a last-gasp equaliser to 10-man Livingston during last night’s 1-1 draw at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

Duffy’s side were literally seconds away from a priceless league victory after Gary Oliver opened the scoring two minutes from time.

But Livingston substitute Jackson Longridge broke Ton’s hearts and scored with a deflected effort four minutes into time added on and secure a share of the points.

The home side saw Shaun Byrne red carded in the second half after two bookable offences.

And just when it looked like Oliver’s late strike would be enough to hand Ton three points, Longridge popped up to have the last laugh and earn a draw.

In another blow, results elsewhere mean Ton now drop down to fourth place in the Championship.

Manager Duffy was gutted that Ton could not see out the game — but he was satisfied with the way they performed after their 3-1 defeat against Falkirk on Saturday.

He told Tele Sport: “When you lose a goal in the last kick of the ball, it feels like a defeat but in reality, it wasn’t.

“We dominated large parts of the second half, of course Livi had a man sent off and we fully acknowledge that.

“But our performance from Saturday was night and day and that was the most important thing for me.

“We gave a determined, aggressive and spirited performance, which is much more like us and we fought for every ball.

“We worked really hard against an extremely difficult side to play against and who give everything for Hoppy.

“That’s the reason they are up there in second place.

“Before the game if someone said we’d draw 1-1 you would not be too disappointed.

“But obviously when you lose a goal in the last kick of the ball it’s a bit of a disappointment but our performance was much better and I was delighted with a lot of the players.

“When can take a lot from the game, even though we are feeling the pain just now.

“A lapse of concentration cost us two valuable points, but we do have a valuable point and we’ll take a lot from the game once we reflect upon it.”

Duffy handed a debut last night to midfielder Gary Fraser, who signed on an emergency loan deal from Partick Thistle earlier in the day.

Fraser came on for the last 11 minutes and should give Duffy more options - and experience - in the middle of the park.

Duffy said: “Just to get him on the pitch was important.

“It was a bit of a frantic game and maybe it’s not what he’s used to, but he’ll get used to that pace and the demands of the game.

“Once he gets up to speed I think he’ll be a good acquisition for us.”

He added: “In the midfield area we have Michael Tidser, Gary Harkins and Andy Murdoch playing pretty much every minute of every game.

“And we don’t really have too many experienced options in there if we need to change it, or if we want to move players around, so that’s the main reason why we brought Gary in.”
