MORTON captain Lee Kilday could go out on loan in a bid to get regular first-team football.
Manager Jim Duffy has revealed there have been a few enquiries made about the defender.
Kilday is continuing his road to recovery after being involved in the under-20s clash against Airdrie this week.
The defender, who last featured for Ton’s first team almost a year ago after suffering an ankle injury, has played several matches for the development team since making his return against East Kilbride last month.
Duffy was pleased with the skipper’s progress, but insists there is absolutely no pressure or rush to get the defender back into the first-team fold.
He told the Tele: “We’ve had several times over the last four or five months since November-ish where we thought he was just about ready to make that next step.
“But he’s had a setback for two or three weeks, he’s come back to being close again and then he’s had another setback.
“He’s been involved in I think four under-20s matches, which is good, but they’ve not been back-to-back, there’s been little spells with gaps.
“He needs to get regular matches basically under his belt on a weekly basis.
“He has made significant progress but he’s still got a little bit to find.
“If you’re out for that period of time it’s going to take you a significant amount of time to get game speed, match sharpness, confidence psychologically and mentally strong.
“It’s not just a case of running around on the training ground because players are aware you’ve been injured, they’re a bit more tentative, they’re a bit more careful tackling you, all those things you have to take your time with.
“We’ll allow Lee as much time as he possibly needs, and when he feels ready, confident and mentally strong to go again and properly compete then we’ll see if an opportunity comes up to do that.”
